Once Upon a Tinder by Dr Ann Donnelly

Genre - Self Help

Rating - 2 out of 5 stars

Ok let me start out by saying this book has some good advice in it. In fact advice I wish I had know before my foray into dating apps. Yes I use a dating app but have been on and off it for a while. I somehow always seem to find the non desirables.

Now about the book. She has good advice about how to choose a man on a dating app and how to tell the losers. She also keeps telling the person reading the book to put themselves first. Which is good advice in any situation. She also talks a lot about how to find a good man and keep him.

She talks about not being negative all the time and not to be a whiny person. Guys are totally turned off when women are like that. Same with ladies. She tries to keep the book gender neutral but you can tell it is aimed more towards women. So that was one of the reasons for the low rating.

Now for the reason I gave it a lower rating than I normally give something I am reviewing. I hate giving a low rating! She seems to be a bit obsessed with sexual relationships. She sleeps with most of the men on the first or second date. Even if she knows it will be a short term relationship.

To give her credit she does say in the beginning of the book that she will talk about sex but I don’t think I really realized how much she would talk about it. She even talks about getting a pole and hiring a pole dance instructor. While I am no prude I think that some of this could have been left out.

She does advocate safe sex and caution when sleeping with someone new. Also she tells some of the changes that happen when your body starts to age. I believe sex in a heathy relationship is good but it seemed like that was more of focus of this book than how to find someone through a dating app.

Just this reviewers opinion. NetGalley gave me this book to do an honest review on it and that is what I am doing.
