A Season Of Sinister Dreams by Tracy Banghurt

Narrator - Christie Moreau Genre - YA/Fantasy Rating - 5 out of 5 stars Narration - 5 out of 5 stars This book is an incredible coming of age story about two different girls. One that is just coming into her magical powers, and one that has had them most of her life but is taken over by the greed that comes along with them This book has many twists and turns and would be good for teens and adults alike. It is full of mystery and intrigue. It is set in a time where magic is real and kings can force common people to use their magics at their every whim. The narration is excellent and the narrator keeps the pace quick and easy, even listening to the audiobook at 1x speed. She also makes you want to keep coming back for more. This was one of those just one more chapter audiobooks for me and then it would be an hour or sometimes two later and I would still be listening. The writer leaves almost every chapter on a cliffhanger. I think that is why I would always end up listening lo...

Improper by Darcy Burke

Series - The Phoenix Club book 2 Genre - Regency/Romance Rating - 5 out of 5 stars This book was very well written and I absolutely loved it! It is definitely one you can read as a stand alone if you have not read the first book. Although I loved this one so much I am going to go back and read the first one called Invitation so I can catch up a bit. This book is about a man that has a ward he knew nothing about thrust upon him with little notice. This man has been a rake for several years and when the ward comes for her first season in London he also decides it is time to settle down and marry. With a little nudge from his father’s will. The ward herself is from a small country town and never expected to have a season in London, with the benefits that come with it. She has little interest in marrying and only wants to explore new things. She has a keen interest in maps and the parks where promenades happen. She has little skill on the dance floor that leads to some mishaps alon...

Big Vape by Jamie Duchard

Big Vape by Jamie Ducharme Narrator - Sean Patrick Hopkins Genre - Non Fiction Rating - 4 out of 5 stars Narration Rating - 5 out of 5 stars I was a little disappointed about this book. All because of an assumption made by me. When I read the title I thought it was going to about all different types of vaping not just about the rise and fall of Juul. As a former vaper myself I thought it would be a good look into all aspects of vaping but I quickly realized it was all about Juul which I have never used. With that being said this was a very interesting book. I learned a lot about the technology of Juul and the consequences of vaping. I also learned some interesting things about Juul and how their company rose and fell quite rapidly. Even to the point that most of the major players are not even involved with the company anymore. Also that they struggled with the same things I struggled with when I was vaping. I loved the narrator. He made what could have been a very borin...

The Dead Husband by Carter Wilson

Narrator - Erin DeWard Genre - Mystery/Thriller Rating - 5 out of 5 Stars Narration Rating - 5 out of 5 Stars This book has so many twists and turns you will have whiplash. It has a new development in almost every chapter. I loved it! The basic concept of the book is about a woman who’s husband has passed and she moved back to the one place she has sworn never to go to again. Her Father’s house.  The cops start sniffing around about her husband and a 20 year old disappearance. Her sister is acting very strangely. The heroine has no idea the secrets the sister is keeping or who she can trust. The narration is very well done. Keeping you wanting to come back for more and more. At first I had trouble getting into it but as the story went on and the narrator got into her grove I couldn’t stop listening. The ending with the most shocking of all and when the truth comes out will she be able to live with it? We all know I don’t like to give spoilers so I will leave it at that...

Old Abe by John Cribb

Narrator - Gary Bennett Genre - Historical Fiction Rating - 3 out of 5 stars Narration - 4 out of 5 stars While this book was a very good IF you take it as fiction. I have done a lot of research on the Civil War and Abraham Lincoln and found the history a bit changed where it did not have to be. This book starts when Abraham Lincoln was chosen for the Republican candidate for the state of Illinois. Then goes on to describe how he was elected to run for president. This is one of those places where I feel the writer took extreme artistic liberties. The book goes on to tell about Abraham’s time in the White House and how the Civil War was played out. Telling about how Abraham ran his campaigns in the war and his life at home. It also goes into a little of Mary Todd Lincoln’s decent into madness. Which I felt was a great way to take the story. There were some very historically documented facts in the book. For example when he showed Mary the insane asylum and told her if s...
