Band of Sisters By Lauren Willig

Band Of Sisters by Lauren Willig Narrated by Julia Whelan Genre - Historical Fiction Format Audiobook Release Date March 02, 2021 I rate the book a 5 of 5 stars I also rate the Narration 5 of 5 stars This book was amazing. It has a little bit of everything. War, Friendship, and even a little bit of Romance. I absolutely loved it. It is actually based on true stories of the Smith College Relief Unit going to France to help with the war effort. The narrator was perfect for this book. She did the voices perfectly and drew you further into the story. She also very upbeat and kept you wanting to listen. Not like some narrators that put you to sleep 5 minutes in. There are somethings that have been changed in the book but it is kept as true to the story as possible as the author used correspondence from the real ladies who did these incredible things. Although it was a fictional work. I was a little disappointed that the Spanish Flu pandemic was not mentioned in the book. Altho...

Jingle All The Way b Debbie Macomber

Genre - Christmas Romance Format - Hardcover Rating - 1 star out of 5 It makes me sick to look at this rating. Especially on a Debbie Macomber book, but it was just that bad. Not at all like her usual Christmas books. This book is based mostly in the Amazon Rainforest. That should tell you something right there. There was absolutely no mention of snow throughout the whole book. Also talk about Christmas was at a minimum which is also unlike Debbie Macomber.  The book seemed like it was a bit rushed. Like she was hurrying to make a deadline. I was so disappointed! I always look forward to her Christmas book every year and this was such a disappointment.  The premise of the book was the main character being overworked and needing a break. So, her assistant out of revenge books her on an Amazon River “Cruise.” All the main character knows is that she is going on a cruise. She is in for a big surprise. Along the way she starts to have fun. After being sick for most of...

Wrapped Up in Christmas Joy by Janice Lynn

Genre - Christmas, Romance F ormat Audiobook Narrated by Alexander Cendese and Rachel L. Jacobs I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars. Narration 4 out of 5 I loved this book. It combined two of my favorite things Firefighters and Quilt Shops with a bit of romance and one of my favorite charities Quilts of Valor. This book is published by Hallmark corporation which is also a plus because I love Hallmark during the holidays. The book is about Sophie and Cole. Sophie has found a diary that Cole has written and wants to return it to him. He does not want any part of that. It is based at Christmas time and it is the perfect back drop for the story. I really liked the audio version because Cole is narrated by a man and Sophie by a woman. This is one of the problems that I have with traditional audiobooks because sometimes it is hard to tell the characters are hard to tell apart. I would definitely recommend this audiobook to listen to while running around picking up those last few C...

It has been awhile!

Hey all I just wanted to let you all know that I am still here. I have been reading a lot of books that are older and have a lot of reviews already so I haven’t been keeping up as well as I should be. I am sorry for this. There are some great books coming up that I will be reviewing. I am listening to Sold On A Monday by Kristina McMorris as I write this and as soon as I have finished I will be writing a review for it. I am starting A Witch To Remember by Heather Blake the 9th book in a cozy mystery series called A Wishcraft Mystery and reviewing that. I also will be reading a relatively new book called The Orphan Collector by Ellen Marie Wiseman. I also have several to read and review that have not come out yet. Like The Children’s Blizzard by Melanie Benjamin and Gabriel Byrne’s memoir titled Walking With Ghost’s. So if anybody is still following this comment below what you are reading now and/or a book you would like me to review in the future.

Fall Forever by Susan Nickson

Healing series book 2 Genre - Women’s Fiction This was a 5 star read for me. It touches on a lot of different subjects that are very relevant right now. This is about Annie and her husband trying to find a way back together after the suicide of their son. If you have read the first book (and I do suggest you read them in order) you will know that Annie was just opening up to another man when her husband comes back in to the picture. Annie is determined not to break her wedding vows to her husband and works hard to keep working towards the goal of them settling down to a good marriage again. There are some anger issues both of them have to deal with. All the while the other man is trying to mind his own business and stay out of the way of Annie and her husband while they work things out. I really liked that Annie does everything in her power to stay with her husband and that there are no sex scenes in the book. I find these things a refreshing change of pace from most books. ...

Review of author Christine K. Fields

Genre Children’s Books I read three books by this author and all three were 5 star reads for children! I read Alphabet Stuff With Nuff, Saving Money Makes Cents,  Teamwork Makes Dream Work all by this author.  The Alphabet Stuff With Nuff book is a great way to get pre-K kids excited about learning letters and counting. It is all done in rhyme and had me laughing in parts. I would recommend the adult read through it a couple of times before reading it to their children. There are some wicked twisters in this one. The goal is to get your children to learn their alphabet and simple counting while you read the book. They have to count each time that letter comes and add them up. The answers of the number of letters in each rhyme are thankfully in the back of the book. The other two books I would say are more of kindergarten age book, One teaches about saving money and how fast it goes if you don’t pay attention. Something I have to say I have not learned at my age. This is perfec...

The Selection by Kiera Cass Audible Edition

Genre YA - Fantasy/Dystopian I am giving this book a 5 out of 5 stars. When I came across this series I didn’t realize it was a YA book and had never read a dystopian book before. I was immediately hooked. This book is about a prince that has to choose a bride from 35 girls from the caste system. All of this was a foreign concept to me until I started listening to it. Now after l have read it I realize how easily this could be our future especially some of the subjects she brought up. This book is told from a girl named America’s perspective. America has her life planned out already and does not want to enter the Selection as she has a secret love already. She is chosen to be one of the 35 girls and ends up meeting Prince Maxon and finding that this could be her new future. There are a lot of twists and turns in this book. Including the requisite YA love triangle. I found listening to this very enjoyable. I was although not very impressed by the narrator of this book. She ma...
